As we approach the peak of hurricane season in the Tropics, I wanted to alert you as to what some of us are sensing in South Florida.
Hurricanes in Our Dreams
Two weeks ago I had a prophetic dream about our region being hit with a strong storm. The eye came over South Miami but the whole region was impacted. The main feeling in the dream is that if we would pray, God would protect us and weaken the storms that might hit us this year.
Several other intercessors have received prophetic revelation either in dreams or visions about the potential of strong storms impacting South Florida. One saw a storm which covered the peninsula in its wind field.
I hold all prophetic revelation in an open palm, understanding that we only see in part. However, I felt it important that we respond to what the Spirit might be saying to us. And if we are going to miss it in the spirit, I'd rather us sense a storm coming and then it not come, rather than the opposite!
I also checked in with Pastor Randy Cutter at New Dawn Community Church in Coral Springs. Pastor Randy and his team have had great accuracy in receiving prophetic revelation about storms going back into the 90's. We have partnered in prayer for nearly ten years. His congregation helped Covenant Centre in our losses after Frances in 2004. We were able to help them out after their offices were destroyed in Wilma in 2005. Pastor Randy shares the following:
"I was praying (with a bit of a whine) about all the post-Wilma rebuilding efforts that could easily be swept away by another storm this season. The next morning our worship leader came to church and told me that the Lord had spoken to him in a dream about this hurricane season. The Lord had told him that we would not be hurt by a hurricane this year because we would be on our knees to prevent Satan from stealing from us. As a result, I believe Satan is going to attempt to steal from us, but I believe that if we pray, we will be spared any devastating blows.
"When I spoke with a mature prophetic leader about this topic, he agreed that South Florida should be protected if it prays. However, he did mention North Florida, the Gulf Coasts, and even the Carolinas as areas of special concern this year."
So essentially what we believe the Spirit saying is that if we pray, pray, and pray some more, the impact of hurricanes on South Florida would be greatly diminished.
Let's not forget the Caribbean and our friends to the north in our prayers either, remembering that God is not a God of death and destruction but a God of life and prosperity. And let's give thanks that Tropical Storm Chris appears to be weakening to a low pressure system as of Thursday afternoon.
